Ferdinando Bonfiglio, PhD
I received my PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of Naples Federico II and have expertise in computational genomics, NGS analysis and data modeling. As postdoc at Karolinska Institute (Stockholm, Sweden), I have been working on genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and meta-analyses of large cohorts from Europe and US for gene-hunting efforts in gastrointestinal diseases.
I did additional postdoctoral training at the University of Basel (Basel, Switzerland) and at the Institute of Oncology Research (IOR, Bellinzona, Switzerland) involved in international studies aimed at exploring NGS data to resolve cancer subgroups, pathway signatures, microenvironment compositions and to uncover host-microbiome interactions that may inform the classification and aid the development of rationally targeted treatments.
I am currently working at CEINGE Advanced Biotechnologies and the University of Naples - Italy as research fellow and I am particularly interested in association studies involving rare germline variants from whole exome sequencing (WES), in the in-silico investigation of the druggable genome (the genetic targets amenable of pharmacological intervention), and in the integration of computational approaches to the study of human diseases for personalized medicine.
In my spare time, I enjoys playing electric guitar and riding my bike.
