Francisco Heredia Fernandez

I was born in a small village in Granada, surrounded by mountains and hot springs. I have always been interested in biology and genetics, so I decided to study the degree in Biotechnology at the University of Granada. During the final project of my Masters in Regenerative Biomedicine, I had the opportunity to enter the world of bioinformatics, performing methylome and transcriptome analyses, which made me decide to specialise further in bioinformatics and genomics.

In 2024 I joined MDALab at CICbioGUNE for my PhD studies. I am working on an exciting project focused on deciphering the genetic basis underlying constipation and irritable bowel syndrome through large-scale population-based GWAS analyses.

In my spare time I enjoy cycling, hiking in the mountains and travelling to new places.
